The Dilemma of Dog Waste, and What to Do About it

The contamination of the world's water supply by dog feces
This article by USA Today shows dog waste to be a disease-bearing, toxic pollutant that is already at significant levels and growing ever-more problematic as it increasingly fouls the world's water supply.

The canine sanitary facility
The human race is capable of creating a practical canine commode, and the canine species is capable of learning to employ it. When such devices come into common use, the contamination of our land and water by dog feces will be greatly reduced, and you will be able to take your dog for a walk without having to pick up his filth and carry it back with you. Perhaps the time has come.

Using dog waste to generate energy
This link will take you to an article from the San Francisco Chronicle that describes research into the feasibility of using feces from domestic animals to generate fuel, natural gas, and electricity, while keeping droppings out of our landfills and away from the water supply.
